Disney Does it Again

I’ve been seeing trailers more often for Disney’s newest animated movie titled The Princess and the Frog. This movie marks the return to hand-drawn animation. Like many Disney movies, it is based off a classic story that we are probably all familiar with – the girl who kisses the frog to turn him into her prince. But Disney, as usual, adds a unique twist onto the popular story. By looking at the title, you can easily get an idea of what the latest film will be about. This time, however, when the girl goes to kiss the frog prince, she turns into a frog herself. The movie then unfolds to show how the two frogs go about turning themselves back into humans, no doubt singing catchy tunes along the way.

I’m a big fan of classic Disney animated films, but you have to wonder if there’s some sort of written formula film creators employed by Disney must follow. As someone who has grown up watching Disney movies, I have begun to question if this one will be similar to the others…Will there be a dead or absent mother character? Will the princess fall madly in love with the prince despite only laying eyes on him for a mere two seconds? How many talking animals will there be this time? And will it include any of those crazy subliminal sex references like The Lion King and Aladdin supposedly do? I guess we will have to wait until December 11 to find out.
